About
Hey! I'm glad you're here.
My name is Kristina, and I'm a Yoga Instructor who teaches hatha, vinyasa flow, yin, and restorative yoga. I found yoga while studying business marketing in college, during a very difficult time in my life. It changed the trajectory of my life and it became clear to me that I needed to become closer to the community while creating some kind of impact. So, I began volunteering at my local yoga studio, and it didn't take long before I decided I wanted to become an instructor. In 2019, I took off my final semester to pursue yoga and then once I completed my 500 hour certification, went back to complete my business marketing diploma. I quickly realized that the traditional corporate job isn't for me. I wanted to bring light into peoples lives, and that wasn't how I was going to do it. Since 2019, I have facilitated in retreats, festivals and private events, all while teaching in studios. Additionally, I've attended many workshops in order to broaden my understandings and enhance my teachings. Other modalities I work with are meditation, breath work, and Reiki. In 2021 I completed my Usui Reiki level 1 certification - an intuitive Japanese energy healing technique. All of these modalities come together within' my offerings to best serve you - my community.
Some of my passions include:
sustainability and wellness
mindfulness
movement
sovereignty
self-love and community
Yoga is about more than just moving your body on a mat. It's about being present in the moment. Time spent within your body and away from the chaos. Yoga is mindfulness, being kind to others, and standing in your truth. This is why all of my yoga classes have some form of meditation, breath work, and movement within' them.
Practicing yoga off the mat is very important to me, and that's why I host nature clean-ups, clothing swaps, and other sustainable community events.
WHY VATRA?
I named my business Vatra Wellness for a number of reasons. Vatra translated from Serbian means "fire" or "light", and while I'm known for being fiery, that's only partly why I chose it. I really wanted to honour my heritage and ancestors. What I bring to my classes and community is both fire and light. Additionally, I'm a Sagittarius which is a fire sign within the zodiac, and I love that all natural forms of light (fire, stars, moon, and sun) are represented within' the name Vatra. The name feels very fitting to me.
